UNIT  11  ROMAN  HISPANIA
Romans conquered the Iberian península 2000 years ago and they were here for 600 years.
The new name for the peninsula was HISPANIA.

UNIT  11  PRE-ROMAN  TIMES
Before the Romans conquered the Iberian Peninsula it was inhabited by:
  • Iberian tribes: east and south
  • Celtic clans: centre and north


Later, other people crossed the Mediterranean sea to the peninsula and established colonies:
  • Phoenicians: from Asia
  • Greeks: from Greece
  • Carthaginians: from North Africa
